SRT to VTT converter
Chromecast, Google TV and web players read WebVTT (.vtt) subtitles, not SRT. Paste or open an .srt file, shift the timing if the subtitles run early or late, and save a .vtt. Everything happens in this page; the file isn't uploaded anywhere.
Positive if the subtitles show up too early, negative if too late.
Why Chromecast needs VTT
The Cast receiver on the TV only understands WebVTT. It's nearly the same as SRT: a WEBVTT header, and a dot instead of a comma before the milliseconds (00:00:01.000). The TV also fetches the subtitle file itself, so the server hosting it has to allow that (CORS); here's what to check when subtitles don't show.
Castmate for Chrome sends a page's subtitles to the TV and converts SRT automatically. More about Castmate
